The sculpture is installed on the territory of the main building of the V.M. Shukshin Museum in the village of Srostki. Bronze Vasily Makarovich stands in a shady garden and meets guests at the entrance to the museum. Many tourists strive to take a memorable photo with Shukshin.

The author of the sculpture is Vyacheslav Klykov. He is also the author of the Shukshin monument on Mount Piket.

The sculpture was received as a gift from the Art Fund of the USSR in 1985 and was an element of the exposition of the House-Museum of V.M.Shukshin's mother, M.S.Kuksina.
