The monument was erected not far from the Altai-West sanatorium in memory of the stay here of the All-Union pioneer camp “Artek” evacuated here during the war.

On a granite slab it is inscribed: “On this place in the former buildings №3 and №4 of the resort" Belokurikha "from September 11, 1942 to January 12, 1945 there was the All-Union pioneer camp" Artek ".

This period in the work of the camp became known as the Altai "Artek". During the existence of the Altai "Artek" about five hundred children from the cities of Siberia had a rest there. And for those who came from Gurzuf, the shift turned out to be the longest in the entire history of "Artek" - four years.
