Monument to settlers in Altai

Barnaul, October Square (in front of the facade of the State Art Museum)

During the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Altai Territory in its capital, the public was shown a sculptural composition in memory of the peasants who moved to Altai. The bronze monument took the place of the cement figure of the leader of the proletariat, which had stood on October Square for more than half a century.

The idea of a monument to His Majesty the Peasant, the likes of which does not exist in Russia, was born from the governor of the region, Alexander Karlin. The idea was assembled into a single whole by the Moscow sculptor Oleg Zakomorny. All the details of the composition - the solar circle, migratory birds, a child, the figure of a sower - are filled with the symbolism of growth, vitality, aspiration for the future.
