Raspberry Lake

Altai region
Raspberry Lake, located in the Mikhailovsky District, is the largest closed-flow bitter-salt lake in the Borovye Lakes group of the Altai Territory, which includes 94 reservoirs. The area of its water surface is 11.4 square meters. km. The lake is 6 km long and 2.6 km wide.

The unique bright crimson shade of the water, which attracts tourists so much, is due to the presence of microorganisms that produce a pink pigment. The color of the reservoir changes throughout the season: it becomes most saturated in spring (especially in the morning), and in autumn the water in the lake acquires a brown hue.

Raspberry Lake is famous not only for its picturesque view, but also for its healing properties.

In terms of salt concentration, lake water is almost as good as sea water - it also has a beneficial effect on the body and just as well supports the body on the surface. However, when swimming, care should be taken not to injure your feet on the hard salt crust at the bottom of the pond.

The medicinal properties of the sulphide-silt mud contained at the bottom of the Raspberry Lake are highly valued. The mud perfectly cleanses the skin from dead skin cells and excess subcutaneous fat, freeing up pores. As a result, the metabolism of the skin improves, wrinkles are smoothed out, inflammation and irritation are reduced, and the aging process slows down. The healing effect of the Raspberry Lake mud is noticeable in eczema, psoriasis, neurodermatitis, seborrhea, hair loss, rheumatic, joint and muscle pains.

Surrounded by a pine forest, Raspberry Lake is a unique natural complex, which, unfortunately, is not protected by the state in any way. This amazing natural site does not belong to specially protected natural areas, even at the local level.
