Tavdinsky caves (they are also called Taldinsky caves) are a complex of thirty caves, which are quite easy to get into - this is why they are attractive for both modern tourists and ancient people.
These caves got their name from the name of the village of Tavda (or in other words Talda), which used to be located near the caves. The rocks stretch for almost five kilometers, in front of us is a whole system of caves, where the caves are connected to each other and each has several entrances and exits.
One of the most popular caves is "Bolshaya Tavdinskaya", it is also called "Maiden's tears", "Tavdinskaya-1". It has lower entrances that are close to the road and can be seen in the gaps between trees. The main gallery is spacious and slightly elevated. 23 meters - this is how much the difference from the lower entrance to the higher one, where at the end of the section the gallery forms a spiral and a ledge, overlapping its lower part.
The history of the cave is very rich in events - it served as a temporary refuge for people in different time periods. Archaeological excavations were carried out in the cave, during which scientists found evidence of pottery and fishing activities. Items from the Bronze Age were also found. An interesting find is a product made from the horn of a huge male roe deer, a semblance of a human face is carved on it, and perhaps it is part of a shaman's staff. They also found various pendant beads that were previously sewn on the clothes of our ancestors.
